Talia Roberts is an abstract, earth-based painter known for her use of natural pigments and meditative brushstrokes. She was born near the coast of South Florida, surrounded by a vibrant, tropical landscape and culture. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Psychology in 2019 from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Talia moved out to Western Montana in 2020, finding inspiration in the heights and open expanses of the Rocky Mountain landscape. It was during her years living in Montana when she began making her own pigments using a mortar and pestle and the rocks she could collect outdoors. This hands-on approach inspires her to explore the life embedded in rocks and minerals. She cultivates a perspective in her works that acknowledges all aspects of life—especially the inorganic and abstract—as dynamic and full of vitality.

Roberts made a site-specific painting using pigments she made from rocks, soil and native sagebrush leaves from the land in 2021 for a private event with OpenAIR in Moiese, Montana. in 2022, Talia exhibited “7 Celestial Days of the Week”, a display of seven oil paintings which utilize Montana river rocks as pigment, at the Missoula Art Museum in a group exhibition titled Imaging The Sacred: Birdie Hall, Talia Roberts, Daphne Sweet, April Werle (Fall-Winter 2022-23). In 2023 the series “7 Celestial Days of the Week” (2022), sold to a corporate collection in Big Sky, Montana. Talia has exhibited her newest series, “A Reflection of the Solar Year in Twelve Full Moons” (2023), at Echo Arts Gallery in Bozeman, Montana (April-July 2024). Talia’s work has been displayed at the Holter Museum of Art, and has sold to private collectors across Montana and throughout the United States. Talia is currently living in Vermont.
